Description :

Giloy is also referred to as heart-leaved moonseed, Tinospora, and Guduchi Extract. It is a sizable, deciduous, widely spreading climbing shrub with many long, twining branches and simple leaves in the shape of hearts. In India, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka's tropical regions, tinospora is a native species.

All types of life can benefit from a plant like Tinospora cordifolia, which serves a variety of functions. Activated substances in the form of alkaloids, glycosides, lactones, bitters, and steroids are reportedly present in plant extracts. All of these active substances have various physiological and immunological modulator functions, highlighting the plant's wide range of adaptability.

Tinospora is regarded as a very beneficial herb in Ayurveda and is utilized in numerous generic formulations. According to Ayurvedic texts, tinospora is hot in intensity, spicy, and harsh to taste. It becomes pleasant after digestion. All three Doshas—Vatta, Pitta, and Kapha—are lessened; digestion is aided; toxic waste (Aam) is eliminated; and the digestive fire is rekindled. It is beneficial for a number of illnesses, including skin conditions, piles, excessive blood sugar, fever of unknown cause, and is used to modulate immunity and as a rejuvenation therapy.

Aqueous Tinospora extracts has been reported to influence the cytokine production, stimulation & activation of immune effector cells and prevention of oxidative Stress on cells. It also exhibits reduction in eosinophil count, stimulation of B lymphocytes, macrophages and polymorphonuclear leucocytes and hemoglobin percentage. Thus it can be used in Various ailments as adjuvant therapy.

It has also been reported to mediate its anti-diabetic potential through mitigating oxidative stress (OS), promoting insulin secretion and also by inhibiting gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis, thereby regulating blood glucose. The root extract has been reported to decrease the levels of glycosylated haemoglobin also.

Tinospora extract has been demonstrated to promote the development of osteoblasts (Bone Cells), increase cell differentiation into osteoblastic lineage, increase the mineralization of bone like matrix, and induce a significant increase in joint cartilage thickness, all of which contribute to the prevention of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.
